In 1973, the comet Kohoutek passed through through the Solar system. It may not have been as spectacular as was predicted, it nonetheless had a broad impact socially, inspiring new age cults and counterculture, with groups as diverse as Sun Ra, Kraftwerk, Journey, 808 State, and R.E.M. drawing inspiration from the event.

This is the soundtrack album accompanying the 5-part podcast "What Kohoutek Left Behind" by writer & producer London Homer-Wambeam, coming September 2020.

The music on this album was drawn from a series of performances using largely period-accurate modular synthesizers and effects and then edited into two side-length mixes -- all while the comet Neowise hung in the sky.

I love to explore how electricity becomes music as a performance. There's no MIDI here, no computer control, no overdubs.

Everything is captured in the moment, and then mixed and edited into it's final form.
